ONE of the stars of Channel 4’s Hunted programmes is among the speakers lined up to inspire audiences at Winchester’s second TEDx event.
TEDxWinchester is to take place on Tuesday, April 5, next year at the University of Winchester’s West Down Campus, in person and online, with tickets on sale now.
TEDx festivals are independently organised events licensed by TED (standing for technology, entertainment and design), the organisation dedicated “ideas worth spreading”.
The first three speakers announced are:
- Liana Fricker, from Inspiration Space, who has helped more than 150 business founders turn their dreams into realities since 2018. She is a champion for women in enterprise and “companies of one” and wants to “democratise entrepreneurship” for the progress of all.
- Extreme adventurer and former soldier Jordan Wylie, one of the stars of Channel 4’s Hunted and Celebrity Hunted. He is the UK ambassador for Army Cadets.
- Tech co-founder and community champion Samantha Kingston, a University of Winchester graduate who co-founded her own company, Virtual Umbrella, a marketing consultancy working in the immersive technology centre. She also premiered her own 360-degree film, Anonymous, at Raindance Film Festival in 2019. She is a community champion for Alcohol Change UK.
TEDxWinchester curator and licensee Jan Carlyle said: “The ambition for TEDxWinchester 2022 is to connect with our community, sharing ideas and hearing from local voices who have ideas that could change the world. We are looking forward to connecting. Together with our team of volunteers and partners, we are proud to bring this global brand to Winchester.”
Local partners in TEDxWinchester include the University of Winchester, Workshop, Winchester City Council and Winchester BID It is also supported by local businesses including Rocket Launch, 7 Stream Media, We Mean This and Sociable Suzy.
The first TEDxWinchester in March 2020 was a sell-out despite being moved online because of Covid.
