A man was today charged with murdering his wife at her Southampton home.

Gavin Amy, 29, has been charged with the murder of 30-year-old Emma Amy who was found dead at her home in Wimpson Lane in Millbrook.

Her body was found by police after they were called to the home on Thurday night following reports of a disturbance.

A post mortem revealed that she had died of asphyxiation.

A 30-year-old man who was also arrested by police has been released on bail and will have to report back to police in Eastleigh on Friday.

Gavin Amy is due to appear before Southampton Magistrate's Court tomorrow morning.
