A SOUTHAMPTON care home could be transformed into flats if plans are given the green light.
Plans have been lodged with Southampton City Council to convert a care home at 33 Landguard Road into five separate flats.
The proposal, that was submitted by Mr A Joommun, is to create a pair of two-bedroom flats and three single-bed apartments.
The site is currently occupied by Haven Rose Residential Care Home which offers support services to people aged 55-years-old or over.
Located in a residential area of the city, the home accommodates up to 16 people at a time.
It supports those suffering from dementia, mental health conditions, physical disabilities or a sensory impairment.
The site has just two existing parking spaces but based on documents submitted to the council, there are plans for an additional three.
There are three full-time and four part-time employees at the home that has eight single rooms and four shared rooms along with four rooms with en suite.
Weekly, self-funded residential care can cost between £365 and £430.
The home is rated Good by the CQC and is run by manager Shahnaaz Joommum.
The CQC report reads: “People received safe care and support living at Haven Rose.
“This was because the staff had received training in safeguarding adults and the service worked with health care professionals in meeting goals agreed and developed with people.
“The registered manager had also taken steps to maintain a safe environment for people.”
