Five very different animals, all with one thing in common – they are all looking for their forever home.

Zirry, Dougal, Pixie, Holly and Berry are currently being cared for by Southampton-based Blue Cross Hampshire but would love to find someone special to share their lives with.

The Blue Cross say, when you rehome a rescue pet, you'll give an abandoned or unwanted animal the chance of a happy future. And what a great start to the year!

Animals cared for by the charity are fully assessed before being vaccinated, microchipped, wormed and neutered (where appropriate), examined by a vet and treated as needed and given a tailor-made training plan depending on their needs.

Aziraphale

Breed: Netherland dwarf/mini lop cross
Age: Two

Aziraphale (known as Zirry), is a two-year-old Netherland dwarf/mini lop cross rabbit, looking for a new home.

He would love to meet a girlfriend to snuggle up to and play with.

A gentle boy, and initially quite timid, once Zirry gets to know you, he will soak up love (treats are a good way to his heart).

He likes some attention but is also happy to do his own thing. Zirry loves to dig and chew – so would need lots of toys.

Zirry could share a home with children, as long as they are patient, but doesn’t like dogs.

He has never been outside, and lives indoors, but would enjoy the opportunity to spend time outdoors when the weather is nice.

Dougal

Breed: Lurcher
Age: Four

Dougal has no history of living in a home, so his new owners will need to be patient. He has settled in well at the centre so hopefully will adjust to being in a home.

He spends his days in the office and settles well. He can be left for short periods, but the time would need to be built up in a new home.

It is likely he will need some management around dogs as Dougal can get a little excited.

Due to his chase drive, he wouldn't be suitable to live with cats or small animals.

Pixie

Breed: Domestic short hair, tabby
Age: Two

Pixie is a two-year-old, playful girl who really loves her creature comforts.

Her favourite place at home is curled up on a soft bed. She doesn't mind a scratch on the head or under the chin.

Pixie does prefer to come to people for attention, and if there are visitors, she might try for some with them too.

Her favourite toys are anything involving cat nip, or string.

She likes to come and go as she pleases and doesn't enjoy being unable to go outside.

Pixie has never lived with children or any other animals, so is looking for a similar home to call her own.

Holly and Berry

Daily Echo: Holly and Berry would like to be rehomed together. Picture: Blue Cross HampshireHolly and Berry would like to be rehomed together. Picture: Blue Cross Hampshire

Breed: Domestic short hair, tortoiseshell
Age: Three months

These girls on the lookout for a new home together.

It took them a long time to trust their human friends at the centre. They were both very scared of being touched and would run away and hide, but now don’t mind head tickles and strokes.

They love to play, and this is a great way to build a bond. They love to whizz up and down chasing our toys and zooming around.

Holly and Berry are looking for a quiet home together where they can settle in at their own pace - which might take a while.

They would need a room of their own while settling in, and for some time until they have found their confidence.
