A SOUTHAMPTON mum is demanding that the council repair her fence after her garden was invaded by dogs.

Jamie Pukulak has vented her fury at a lack of privacy after her fence was blown over in a storm.

The 35-year-old who lives in the Bitterne area of the city has complained of dogs from a neighbouring property using her garden as a toilet.

The single mum of two says she is unable to let her children play in their back garden due to the barking pets.

She says that the fence had been propped up by a shed which the council removed "for no reason".

Jamie, who has mobility issues due to a degenerative disease, is now calling on the local authority to repair the panels.

She said: "The neighbour's dogs come into the yard and bark at us.

"They do their business, toilet and everything in my yard.

"There is no privacy for us, and we can't really go into the garden without being barked at.

"My daughter likes to look for worms and stuff like that, and right now she can't do that. I am scared that she'll go out and touch the dog's poop."

Jamie, who moved into the council-owned property told the Daily Echo that since reporting the problem to the council, only one inspection has taken place.

She said: "I was told by my warden and housing officer that under special circumstances, meaning my disability, the council could fix it, but yet they have not done anything about it.

"I am angry and infuriated. The council should have fixed the issue before even allowing me to view the house."

Bitterne ward councillor Matt Magee said: "I was made aware of this by the resident a few days ago and I am currently following this up with housing to get to the bottom of the situation.

"I am afraid that I can't comment on the particulars until I have heard back from our housing officers."
