ROAD markings have been painted at the spot where a cyclist was killed in a collision last year.

The white paint now clearly shows right of way at the junction of Woodman Lane and Farley Road near Sparsholt. It shows traffic on Woodman Lane has right of way.

When David Davenport was fatally injured on June 8 they were virtually invisible as shown by these photos by Michael Warner, of Quarry Road, Winchester.

The inquest in Winchester was due to be resumed on Thursday March 10 but it is no longer listed on the publicly available list of future inquests.

Mr Warner told the Echo's sister paper the Hampshire Chronicle he had been a regular cyclist along the road and had grown increasingly concerned by the deterioration, adding: "In sharp contrast, the road markings at the junction of Sarum Road/Chilbolton Avenue are very clear, indicating a priority may have been given to safety on city roads over rural roads."

The initial inquest hearing heard that Mr Davenport was riding a pedal cycle along Woodman Lane when he was involved in a collision with a blue Mini Cooper at the crossroads with Sarum Road.

Mr Davenport, 59, of Archers Road, Eastleigh, was taken to Southampton General Hospital but died on June 16 as a result of his injuries.
