SOUTHAMPTON has been hit with another high street closure after NatWest announced further branch closures.
The banking giant is set to close 32 more of its branches across the UK in the next 12 months.
NatWest said 21 of the closures would be NatWest branches, and 11 of them RBS.
The Southampton Royal Bank of Scotland branch in the High Street is ear-marked for closure, but the banking giant has not said when the store will close its doors.
The decision comes as customers switch increasingly to using online services.
NatWest is keen to reassure people that support will be offered as the bank moves primarily online so "no-one is left behind."
A spokesperson said: "We understand and recognise that digital solutions aren’t right for everyone or every situation, and that when we close branches we have to make sure that no-one is left behind.
"We take our responsibility seriously to support the people who face challenges in moving online, so we are investing to provide them with support and alternatives that work for them."
