Pet rescue shelters are always looking for responsible pet owners to adopt the animals in their care and Hampshire Blue Cross is no different.

The Southampton rehoming centre has been running for more than 30 years, opening in 1988 after the site was bequeathed to them.

If you aren't in a position to take on a new pet right now but would like to support the centre's work, you could make a donation instead.

Roxy

Roxy is a busy little lady who likes to get out and about and explore.

Despite her smaller size she is very active and does enjoy a nice long walk where she can investigate things.

She has lots of energy and sometimes likes to have a bit of a bark, but Blue Cross can offer advice on how to help this.

She does get stressed when left alone so will need a new owner who is around most of the time who can slowly increase the time she can be left for.

Roxy would need to be the only pet in her new home but could potentially live with older school aged children after a successful meeting.

Arthur and Belle

Arthur and Belle are a bonded pair looking for a new home together.

They can be a little shy at first when getting to know new people but if you are gentle and patient it won’t be long until they are up on your lap, so an owner who would like lap dogs and a cuddle up on the sofa is ideal.

Belle is the braver one who enjoys going for little walks on lead but can be worried by the outside world and other dogs. Because of this, she needs someone who can gradually build her confidence by going for short walks in quite areas.

She is happiest indoors but would love a garden to potter about and sunbathe in, when the weather's a bit better.

Arthur is the more worried of the pair and is scared of the outdoors, getting very panicky. At the moment he is being carried out for short walks while Belle trots along on her lead.

He will take lots of patience and understanding and may never really enjoy walks like Belle does, but hopefully in time he will gain confidence with going in the garden and make progress.

Both dogs need help with housetraining, but we will make the loveliest companions for someone who has a quiet home with no other pets or children of any age.
