OFFERING old-fashioned drinks and live music, a new restaurant will be throwing open its doors this weekend.

Whisky Blue will be opening on London Road this Saturday.

The building at the junction of Ordnance Road previously housed Sadler’s Bar and Smokehouse.

General manager of the new venture, Chris Kennell, who has worked in the hospitality industry for ten years, says he is “excited” ahead of the launch.

He said: “We wanted to add to the great selections and bars we already have in the city - and add a new place for people and families to come and enjoy.

“We want the customers to feel comfortable and hope to become one of the great places to go in Southampton.

“There will be a regular DJ and live music bands.

“We will also be serving different types of whisky, gins, cocktails and more. “

The restaurant will offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus.

Furthermore, it will have options for vegans and vegetarians.

Before the restaurant’s formal launch, Daily Echo reporters were able to get a sneak peek inside.

The watering hole and eatery will create 15 jobs, with plans to increase the number of employees to 25.

It will be open between 8am and 7pm on Monday to Thursday, from 8am to 11 on Friday and Saturday, and from 9am to 7pm on Sunday.
