A WALKING event which aims to bring hope to people living with cancer returns in person this summer.

Wessex Cancer Trust’s Walk for Hope flagship fundraiser will see people coming together on Sunday July 3 to show support for friends and family who have been affected by a cancer diagnosis.

For the last two years, walkers have been encouraged to raise money by holding a virtual event due to the pandemic, but now the event is back in person and in a new venue.

Daily Echo:

Walkers can choose between a five and ten mile walk starting and finishing in the Royal Victoria Country Park in Netley Abbey. Both routes will take in the beautiful scenery along the River Hamble.

You can walk on your own or with family and friends and at your own pace, making the event perfect for supporters of all ages and abilities. Rachel Billsberry-Grass, Wessex Cancer Trust’s CEO, told the Daily Echo: “This is our fifth Walk for Hope and it’s poignant this year because we’re so thrilled we’ll be able to come together again in person after Covid-19 forced us to host the past two events virtually.

"We hear so many inspirational stories from people who have been affected by cancer and the challenges they face on their journey. This makes Walk for Hope the perfect event to give hope to friends and family undergoing cancer treatment, to remember loved ones and to support everyone affected by cancer. Please join us to make our 2022 Walk for Hope the best yet!" The charity are also looking for volunteers.

Daily Echo:

All of the money raised at the event will be used to provide practical and emotional support to people living with cancer in Hampshire, Dorset and the Isle of Wight.
