A COLLEGE catering team has emerged victorious in a national hospitality award.
The Hospitality and catering team at Eastleigh College was recognised at the Professional Association of Catering Education (PACE) awards, taking home the accolade of Outstanding Teaching Team of the Year.
PACE is the representative body for the UK hospitality industry and its annual awards have been recognising colleges for the past two decades.
All entries are judged by an independent panel comprised of suppliers, sponsors and industry experts.
Criteria for the award included evidence of "continual commitment to learning" and a "demonstrable impact of teaching upon students and colleagues" across the College.
Sue Lyons, Hospitality Lead at Eastleigh College, said she is "delighted" with the result, adding "it’s brilliant to have all our hard work over the past year recognised on a national stage like this".
"We’ve never won a team award through PACE and to secure one now feels like a fitting tribute to what has been an excellent academic year for the department.”
The result comes just days after confirmation that Chef Lecturer Greg Cheeseman has been nominated in the Catering College category of the Public Sector Catering awards 2022.
