A VEHICLE carrying an overweight pile of bricks that were not secured safely was pulled over on a busy motorway.

Police stopped the van on the M3 this afternoon in “a priority patrol location”.

The load was 500kg over the legal amount, and officers said they “were not convinced that rope” is good enough to secure the bricks.

A Hampshire Roads Policing Unit spokesperson said: “Vehicle was prohibited from continuing with the journey until the load was reduced and properly secured.

“Driver is being dealt with for the load offences. Safe vehicles are one of the priorities for us as a department.”
