AFTER 70 happy and memorable years, the Southampton Ice Dance and Figure Skating Club is set to be dissolved.
While celebrating their anniversary, the group will be getting together for their final reunion at the Cranberry Centre in Eastleigh.
This follows the failure of their 34-year-long campaign to save the ice rink at Bannister Road, Southampton.
The event will be held next month on Sunday, 24 April from 2pm until 6pm and will be attended by current and past club members.
Club secretary Edna Boden says: "After 34 years of hard campaigning and still no ice rink in the City of Southampton, we have decided, after much deliberation and heartache, that the club will be dissolved at this final union. All good things have to come to an end someday, and 70 happy and memorable years seemed like the right moment to hang up our skates for the final time. "
