The woman said she slowed down to go past at a gentle walking pace, but as she went to make her way past the couple and the dog, the dog slipped its owners grip and jumped at her.
This forced her to "stop in her track" when she was then bitten on the leg causing several puncture wounds and causing her leg to bleed.
The dog was eventually pulled away from the woman by its owners, it was reported.
Now, police are sharing an image of a couple and a dog in a bid to identify them to conduct enquiries.
A spokesperson from the Force said: "Were you in the area at the time? Did you see what happened?
"Do you remember seeing a German Shepherd dog acting in a dangerous manner? Perhaps you recognise the people in the image?
"Anyone with information relating to this incident is asked to call 101, quoting crime reference 44220113891."
