Now residents have told the Daily Echo of their shock at the incident they say happened in "quite a quiet area".
Dan Chapman, who lives opposite the police cordon, said: "It is a bit crazy that it has happened just across the road from me.
"I have grown up in Millbrook all my life but when it happens on your doorstep it's a bit of a scare."
Dan first became aware of the incident when he woke up at about 9am on Wednesday and saw police.
Another resident, who did not want to be named, told the Echo: "It’s scary.
"It’s Millbrook estate at the end of the day but someone being murdered 100 yards from your home is not something you expect.
"I’ve never heard any trouble. It’s quite quiet around here.
"You’d think it would be noisy because of the pub but it is quite nice.”
A police cordon was set up on an area of green space in front of the homes, and around three properties in a row of buildings.

One woman, who lives around the corner from the house said an ambulance was in the area at around 7am.
"When they started cordoning off, and the school children had to go up the road, then I knew something bad had happened," she added. "It is sad really."
A mum in Millbrook, who did not want to be named, saw the police response unfolding.
She said: "All the police and ambulances outside at 6am was a shocking scene and it happened so close to a school.
"I will have to explain to my son what all the commotion was on the school run.
"My thoughts are with the family."
Police remained on the scene throughout the day with forensics officers visiting the property. The man's cause of death is under investigation.
Ward councillor Sally Spicer said on social media: "I hope all those involved that found the body get the help and support they will need at this difficult time."
“I'm saddened to hear there has been an incident of an alleged murder in my ward.
“It's a sad event for all those involved, and my thoughts go out to them at this difficult time.”
A resident living on the road said: "It’s shocking. I don’t know what to say."
Another said: "I was shocked this morning as there was nothing happening really. It was surprising. There was one ambulance.”
