THIS SPRING, a dancer from Southampton is set to join a world-leading ballet company on their UK tour.
Caitlan Airs, a final-year dance student, will be joining Ballet Central on their welcome return to touring.
She will perform under the artistic direction of Artist-in-Residence Mikaela Polley and Artistic Director Kate Coyne.
For four months, Caitlin will join the company and will be touring across the UK, commencing on Friday, 22 April in Hornchurch, Essex, performing in Birmingham, Cambridge, Guildford, Newbury, London and more.
Caitlan, 19, started her training at the Waterside School of Dance in Hythe, Southampton, before joining the performing arts training school, The Hammond School, in Chester.
She is now in the final year of a three-year BA (Hons) Professional Dance & Performance degree at the Central School of Ballet in London.
Caitlan said: "After graduating from Central this July, my ambition is to join a ballet company. Joining Ballet Central has given me great insight and a taste of what dance company life is like, which has helped me prepare for a career as a professional dancer."
Ballet Central provides professional performance experience and the opportunity to work with leading choreographers in the industry to its students, and it has been a great learning curve for Caitlan.
Under the artistic direction of Artist-in-Residence Mikaela Polley and Artistic Director Kate Coyne, Ballet Central will present three new pieces this year, created by Central’s dancers. The tour offers audiences across the country the chance to see the company’s young and dynamic dancers showcase choreography from current industry professionals alongside newly commissioned work and refreshed classics from the world’s top choreographers.
