YOU would think a dancing extravaganza centred around a spinning car with detachable features could only be seen in an expensive theatre.
But dozens of residents enjoyed such a performance for free today – right next to their local play park.
The event was courtesy of Southampton-based dance company ZoieLogic, which has been touring across the city with its show ‘Ride’.
Families in the Holyrood Estate this morning watched on, as three men discovered a Ford Orion, named Stanley, which has a life of its own.
Have you been lucky enough to see 'Ride' - the performance by @zoielogic that is touring #Southampton at the moment? 👇 (WARNING: The video is loud and my editing software is not working) pic.twitter.com/nMOnhPW9it

Zoie Golding, who grew up in Portswood but spent a lot of her time on the Holyrood Estate, said: “ZoieLogic is designed to challenge perceptions of dance, who it's for and how we do it.

“We specialise and have challenged the perception of men in dance for 22 years.
“So we're taking this show and touring it around communities in Southampton because we really want to bring our work to people in their places, in their homes, and allow them to come on a dance journey with us.
“It's about meeting people on their terms – we’re not saying we’ve got this show and we need you to come along, we're here for gifting it to communities.”
Children’s eyes were glued to the stage as the performers pulled pieces from the vehicle, flipped it over and reassemble it.
The storyline follows Clive, Hank and Steve, who are from different backgrounds but meet after finding Stanley.
Throughout, they argue, fight, flip and frolic as the tale takes different turns. “The company is now the Southampton based, so I’m able to bring my work home and we're working in the community,” continued Zoie.
“Southampton communities are wicked. People have come out and they've tried something new and we're really appreciative of it, and we're really excited to be part of this city's, you know, cultural drive as well for the city of culture.”
Ride still has two shows to come in Southampton.
The first is on Saturday April 16 at 12pm, and again at 3pm, at Monks Way in Mansbridge.
The second is at St James Park in Shirley on Monday April 18, at 12pm then at 3pm.
