A GIRL has been rushed to hospital after being hit by a van in a Hampshire town.
The ten-year-old girl was hit by a Ford Transit on Sandy Lane in Fair Oak.
She sustained an injury to her ankle and was taken to Southampton General Hospital.
The youngster stayed there overnight for observations.
A spokesperson from South Central Ambulance Service said it is believed the vehicle was travelling at around 10mph.
A spokesperson said: "The pedestrian was a 10-year-old female who was in collision with a car that was fortunately travelling at an estimated 10mph at the time according to the information we received.
"She had sustained an injury to her ankle and was taken to University Hospital Southampton for further assessment and treatment."
A spokesperson from Hampshire Constabulary said: "Police were called at 4.04pm on Tuesday, April 26, to reports of a collision on Sandy Lane, Fair Oak involving a vehicle and a ten-year-old girl.
"The child was transported to Southampton General Hospital where she remained overnight for observations."
