A POLICE investigation surrounding the death of a Hampshire railway worker has been dropped.
Paramedics were called to the Eastleigh Railway Depot off Dutton Lane following reports a worker had been injured by a piece of machinery.
Despite their best efforts, Kevin Mauger, 53, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene on November 30, 2020.
A joint investigation involving British Transport Police (BTP) and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) was launched and a man in his forties was arrested.
Witnesses were urged to come forward with any information.
However, BTP has recently confirmed that the man will face no further action.
It has dropped its investigation surrounding Kevin's death.

Commenting at the time Detective Chief Inspector Paul Langley said: “This is a tragic incident and our deepest condolences are with the man’s family who are being supported by specially trained officers."
Despite, the criminal element of the investigation being dropped, the HSE is still carrying out enquiries to establish exactly what happened to the Network Rail worker.
A spokesperson for BTP said: "No further action was taken in relation to the man arrested at the time and primacy for the investigation has now been passed to the Health and Safety Executive."
Manuel Cortes, the general secretary of transport union TSSA, had previously passed on condolences to Kevin's family.
He also stressed the need for safe working practices across British railways and workplaces.
The incident has been referred to in a Network Rail safety, health and environmental compliance committee report.
The firm has stated it is carrying out its own investigations to prevent similar events from ever happening again.
CEO, Andrew Haines, said that the company has been working with the HSE and offered thoughts to the Mauger family.
