A MAJOR road into Southampton was shut for more than seven hours following a crash.
UPDATE: Woman hit and killed by car while crossing busy road
Bitterne Road West was reopened at around 5.45am this morning, following the incident just after 10pm yesterday evening.
This morning, a yellow ‘crash’ sign can be seen on a lamppost near the junction with Bullar Road.

Police use these in an appeal for witnesses.
A spokesperson for Southampton City Council said at 10.30pm last night: “Bitterne Road West closed by emergency services, inbound at the junction of Bullar Road.
“Please use alternative routes.”
The Echo has contacted the emergency services for further information.
