THE LIBERAL Democrats have taken a seat on Southampton City Council for the first time in almost 10 years.
Richard Blackman was confirmed as ward councillor for the Bassett ward at Southampton Civic Centre this morning.
The Lib Dems have not held a seat on the authority since 2013.

The Bassett ward now has two Conservative councillors and one Liberal Democrat councillor.
The Lib Dem seat was previously the seat of Conservative, Beryl Harris.
It comes as Labour have taken control of Southampton City Council after just one year out of power.
