A CROWD of people gathered in Southampton to protest the war in Ukraine.
Members of Stop The War gathered at the Bargate on Saturday to protest against the Russian invasion and are calling for peace talks.
They lined the area near the old walls holding banners and posters and were handing out leaflets to passers-by.
A number of speeches were also made regarding the conflict.

Protesters were calling for peace talks between the countries and believe the west is "fanning the flames of war".
Helen Field, a member of Stop the War Southampton, said: "I'm here today because I'm very scared that there is a possibility that we're going to have World War 3 if this particular war in Ukraine isn't stopped and contained.
"I have criticised Russia strongly. It should not have invaded and it should withdraw.
"I think the west, especially NATO, America and the UK, are really fanning the flames of war and I find that very very worrying.

"It's horrible what has happened to the Ukrainians, but the [media] don't seem to be telling us about any other wars.
"I think if we need to have peaceful negotiations.
"Our organisation is calling for peace talks, and stop the drive to war.
"We want to get people's attention so I am giving out some leaflets which explain what is going on and why this is so important."
Russia invaded Ukraine in late February and thousands of people have lost their lives as a result of the violence.
In March, hundreds of people gathered in Southampton to stand with those who are suffering as a result of the war with Russia.
Gathering at the Peace Fountain in East Park, individuals from different races and backgrounds spoke as part of a vigil for those who are suffering because of the conflict.
Organised by Southampton Council of Faiths, candles were lit around the fountain, as over a hundred people gathered together.
