Crowds from Hythe marina look on as the Battle of Britain plane soared across the sunny sky for VE Day.

The flypast was organised by The Veterans Charity.

The Veterans Charity CEO Danny Greeno said: “This (is a) very fitting tribute to those who paid the ultimate price for victory in Europe during WWII and in the many conflicts since.

“We are very proud to have Cunard’s support, they have been fantastic in this and with the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (plane), it will be an amazing way for us to launch Routes of Remembrance 2022.”

QM2 Captain Aseem Hashmi added: “It’s a tremendous honour to be able to support The Veterans Charity and raise awareness for those who have selflessly given their lives to protect so many.

“As we come together on VE Day it is a further reminder for all of us, that we should never forget the tremendous sacrifice that came before us.”
