PEOPLE'S Pride Southampton has announced a new event to celebrate and represent the LGBTQ+ community.
Party In The Park will take place across two days in Palmerston Park, starting on June 11.
It will feature a pride march through the city, starting at 11am and leaving from the main event gates.
It will then proceed down through the city centre, past the Bargate, and end up back at the park.
Palmerston Park will be filled with performance stages, community stalls, food, drink and other activities.
The free event will end at 8pm on the first night and run again the next day from 11am to 5pm.
Several thousand people are expected to attend.
Organisation chair, Levi Wellman, said: "We’re so excited to announce the programme for the first-ever Party in The Park event, and to give organisations who want to profit off rainbows a run for their money. Pride is for people, not for profit."
The event will also feature poet and musician performances including those of Jeff Paladino, attending as part of his European tour, Southampton Based BIPHONY, The Radar, Totton College Band, Hunting Hearts, Sydney Dejorey, The Taboos, Harrison Rhys, Rough Cut, Word Of Mouth, and Reawaken.
Other activities include a community village, a variety tent with activists and members of People’s Pride Southampton, Peter Tatchell, British human rights campaigner, and Sophie Cook, the first transgender woman to work in football’s Premier League who will both be doing workshops and talks on behalf of the charity.
