TRAVELLERS have pitched up on the playing fields near Places Leisure Eastleigh.
A total of 22 caravans have set up camp in Fleming Park Parkland, land owned by Eastleigh Borough Council.
Hampshire Constabulary say they were made aware of the unauthorised encampment on Magpie Lane at around 7pm yesterday, May 24, evening.
Officers have visited the encampment on "several occasions" since the travellers' arrival, and continue to monitor the situation, whilst "working closely with the landowners and Eastleigh Borough Council to seek a suitable resolution."
The spokesperson added: "We have had no reports at this time in relation to any offences being disclosed at the site."

Eastleigh Borough Council say council officers visited the encampment earlier today to request that the group leaves the site.

The council will continue to monitor the situation and will follow "our normal procedure for dealing with unauthorised encampments."
Travellers also set up camp at Freespace Skate Park off Chesnut Avenue earlier this month.
There were 12 caravans and around 24 other vehicles.
The council “monitored the situation” and police were also aware of their presence.
