POLICE have released the photo of a violent drug dealer who attacked a man with a baseball bat.

Zak Mapes can be seen grinning in his custody photo.

The 22-year-old threatened to skin one of his victim's alive with a pocketknife, a court heard.

He left another man bleeding from his mouth, nose and face when he repeatedly hit him with a bat, a court heard.

The incident, in New Milton, happened in September last year and is said to have started after a disagreement over a stolen television.

Earlier this month, Mapes was jailed for five years at Southampton Crown Court.

He had faced two charges of breaching a suspended sentence, threatening a person with a blade or sharply pointed article, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The defendant of Cunningham Court, New Milton, was also sentenced for drugs and criminal property charges.

The court heard how police officers had seized a phone from him to find messages about drug dealing.

They also found a "small amount of cannabis" and £1,480 in cash.

However, his barrister, Paul Walker argued Mapes had been abused as a youth and sold drugs to fund his own addiction.
