A 3,000 push up challenge has taken the money raised in honour of brave teenager Ben Pavitt over the £70,000 mark.
Ben's Dad Mike Pavitt, a partner at Paris Smith, and colleague Chris Parsons completed the challenge to raise money for the firm’s named charity of the year, Ben Pavitt’s Legacy of Love Fund.
The Special Named Fund with the Children’s Cancer and Leukaemia Group was overwhelmingly chosen by staff to be the firm’s charity partner for 2022-23 alongside the British Red Cross: DEC Ukraine Emergency Appeal.

Mike, who completed his push ups on May 30 outside the firm’s London Road office, told the Daily Echo: “We’ve been overwhelmed by the generous donations throughout our challenge. It felt right to take on something physically demanding in my fundraising efforts as the fund was set up to remember a young man, my son, who died without ever once backing away from the hardest challenges life can throw at us. It’s not been easy as I’ve had to push through injury – so, on a much smaller scale obviously, it’s felt like a real testament to Ben’s bravery in facing down childhood cancer.
“We have lots more fundraising projects coming up this year – everything from bake sales to charity dinners and sponsoring theatrical performances. It’s an exciting time for the Fund and I’m so grateful for the support of Paris Smith and their staff.”
Total fundraising in Ben Pavitt’s name for all causes, raised during his lifetime and following his death in October 2021, including Gift Aid, has now passed £70,000.
Caring Ben and his family and friends raised tens of thousands of pounds for the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit and Piam Brown ward in Southampton and Teenage Cancer Trust while he underwent treatment for acute T-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoblastic lymphoma.
Dad Mike, Mum Suzie and sister Lauren, from Marchwood, are aiming to have raised over £100,000 by the second anniversary of his death.
