PLANNING chiefs are studying proposals to build a 75-bed care home in a Hampshire town.
NL Care & Palace Capital (Signal) Ltd has applied for permission to transform a large rectangular site at Wallington Hill, Fareham, by replacing two office buildings.
It says the proposed development will provide pensioners with specialist care in a "modern and dynamic" environment.
Facilities will include a café and a hairdressing salon, plus lounges, dining areas, and quiet rooms. All residents will benefit from communal amenities and landscaped spaces as well as access to private garden spaces.
The application says the home will provide a much-needed care facility for people with nursing and dementia care needs.
It adds: "The existing site is currently occupied with two buildings. Admiral House, which appears to have been built in the late 1920s, is a building of limited heritage value and has little architectural interest. The other building is Nicholson Gate, a late 20th-century office block.
"The site lies wholly within the Fareham High Street Conservation Area, but does not contain heritage assets, designated or otherwise."
A public notice outlining the scheme has been published by Fareham Borough Council, which will decide the application.
