POLICE have launched an investigation after a BMW driver was spotted mounting a pavement to skip a red light.
Dashcam footage shows the driver driving up on the pedestrian path at the junction between Bursledon Road and Hinkler Road near Springwell School.
Officers received a report after being sent the video just after 4.50pm on Thursday.
A spokesperson from Hampshire police said: "The matter is currently under investigation."
The video was posted online and generated anger among viewers.
Commenting underneath the post on the Thornhill community group Southampton Facebook page, a woman said: "I dread to think if people were walking on the pavement the other side of the bend."
Another man added: "They should have at least a one year ban for that and six points. crazy"
