THE DEATH of a falcon used to control the pigeon population at a city hospital is being investigated.
Southampton General Hospital used Storm to protect the building from nuisance birds, such as pigeons, which can pose a health hazard.

However the falcon was found dead on Coxford Road on Monday, July 4, prompting an investigation.
David Jones, Director of Estates at University Hospital Southampton, said: “We are aware of the distressing incident that took place (on Monday) involving a falcon that was being used to protect our hospital site from troublesome birds.
“We are working with Hampshire Constabulary, which is now investigating the matter.
“As such it would not be appropriate for us to comment further.”
A spokesperson from Hampshire Constabulary said: "Police are investigating after it was reported that a bird of prey was killed on Coxford Road, Southampton on the morning of Monday, July 4. Investigations are ongoing."
