SOUTHAMPTON-born MP Rishi Sunak has returned to his home city as he got behind the controls of one of Red Funnel's vessels.
The former chancellor and Number 10 hopeful visited the city on his return from a trip to the Isle of Wight.
Mr Sunak was born in Southampton General on May 12, 1980 when his mother Usha was manager of Weston Pharmacy, while his father Yashvir was a GP in Raymond Road, Shirley.
On his way back to the city he even got hands on with Red Funnel's Red Jet 6.
Chief financial officer for Red Funnel Group, posted on LinkedIn after the visit saying: "I was fortunate to host Rishi Sunak on behalf of Red Funnel Group as he returned to his home town of Southampton following a visit to the Isle of Wight.
"Special thanks to the brilliant Red Funnel Group team at both ends of the journey and to Christopher Platt and his crew for navigating the challenges of the Solent Platinum Jubilee Celebrations to ensure Rishi and the red of Red Jet 6's passengers arrived safely".
