A NEW restaurant is coming to Southampton city centre.

Fried chicken chain Miss Millie's has applied for a licence to open "a restaurant with takeaway" at 95 Above Bar Street, the former Fusion Grill House.

It could be a night out destination, serving alcohol and opening until 1.30am every day.

The Southampton store will open on Wednesday, September 7, at 10.30am.

The Mayor of Southampton, Cllr Jacqui Rayment, will be opening the restaurant but plans are under consultation until August 30.

The chain says it cooks chicken in a "secret recipe coating".

The recipe was created by the grandson of Colonel Sanders, founder of KFC.

The business started in 1965, and now has stores in Bristol, Weston-Super-Mare, Cardiff, Yate, and London.
