CONCERNS have been raised over drainage in Totton after flooding sparked delays across the area yesterday.
Bringing a long dry spell to an end, the rain hit at around midday causing flooding on Testwood Lane and Ringwood Lane.
But now concerns have been raised about drainage in the area with several people saying the drains should have been cleared during the dry spell.
Zamman Hassani, manager of Totton Hand Car Wash and Valeting Centre on Ringwood Road, said the water flooded his shop.
He said: "It was outside in the road, in the garage, and it all went down the man holes, but very slowly. I think there might be something blocking the man hole."
Commenting on the Daily Echo Facebook page, Kirsty Gray said: "They knew it was coming so why didn’t they make sure all the drains were clear.
"It’s common sense."

The rain came after a yellow warning for thunderstorms was issued for England and Wales. It remains in place today.
Heavy rain was also seen in parts of Southampton with video footage showing a downpour in Lordshill.
Buses were delayed in the area due to the flooding in Totton with drivers seen wading through the water in their vehicles.
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service said it had not been called to any flooding incidents.
However, a spokesperson issued some advice.
They said: "Our advice would be not to travel in heavy rainstorms unless absolutely necessary, but if you do have to travel, be aware that:
- Your stopping distance will be at least double
- If in any doubt, do not attempt to drive through flood water – find an alternative route
- Keep your distance from the driver in front as your view of the road could be impaired"
One onlooker at Ringwood Road, Glenn McDermott told the Echo: "The flooding happened so quickly due to the amount of rainfall that occurred in such a short time.
"I think it caused to car wash guys some issues as their forecourt and waiting area was under water, but apart from that I don’t think it caused any issues once the flooding slowly eased."
