A HUNDRED jobs are on offer in Southampton as Starling Bank expands its presence in the city.
The digital bank – recently voted the UK’s joint favourite for customer satisfaction – now has nearly 350 staff attached to its Town Quay offices.
It is recruiting for operational jobs such as customer service, customer acquisition, financial crime and complaints, as well as technology roles such as software engineers and data analysts.
The bank says is looking for customer service skills, rather than banking experience, for its customer service jobs. It says it has jobs covering all times of the day and night to suit all applicants, including students.

Anna Griffin, talent acquisition manager at Starling Bank, said: “We’re looking for a lot of people.
“We don’t look for people who’ve worked in banks previously. We’re really focused on people who just really want to provide the best customer service.”
The company has six double-decker buses around the city wrapped in its recruitment ads.
Most of the 100 jobs offer a mix of home and office working, with flexible hours.

Susanna Yallop, the bank’s chief people officer, said: “We work 24/7 so we have people who are available to our customers round the clock and that means we can have shift that suits different people.
“We’ve got a lovely office in Southampton and we’re now in a position where we can use it and people can get together and enjoy that working experience.”
Ms Griffin added: “We’ve launched, in customer service and customer acquisition, a new twilight team focused on the hours of 5pm until around 3am, with some shifts finishing around 12. It really is about you telling us what works for you and we’ll find a shift that can support your lifestyle.
“We want to make work fit around your personal life, not your personal life fit around work.”
The bank plans another campaign towards the end of September to further target university students.
Starling Bank chose Southampton for its first office outside London in 2019.
Ms Griffin said: “It’s really grown since we opened the team and we’ve got quite a big customer service and customer acquisition team. It’s a hub for our technology engineers as well. We recently launched a new bills manager product and that was built from our Southampton engineering teams.
“We’re seeing we don’t have to go to London to recruit the specialist skills any more.”
