What happened?
Overnight between Thursday and Friday, more than a dozen people can be seen in a video in a brawl outside the Robin Hood pub on South East Road.
One person was filmed using what appears to be a baseball bat to strike someone else on the ground.
A man was hospitalised and suffered serious head injuries in the fight.
What do residents say?
A nearby resident said he heard a lot of noise around midnight. He told the Echo: “They were all drinking and then it went mad. There was a lot of blood.
“There was so much noise that I couldn’t sleep.”
Another man, who lives on Middle Road, added: “I was in bed when it started. It began with lots of people fighting in the road. I could hear it from my room and my room is at the back of the house.
“Judging by the noise, lots of people were involved. They probably were drunk. The noise started around 11pm and went on until 1am.”
Residents say it is not the first time fights have been reported in the area with some saying the issue has become a “nightmare”.
“I woke up one time just after 1am because they were shouting while still drinking in the garden. This has to stop,” said another resident.
