SHOPPERS in a Hampshire town are celebrating after one of the entrances to their local Asda finally reopened.
The move means people are no longer restricted to using the doors at the car park end of the building to enter and leave the store.
Shopper Jill Corbett said the doors had been kept locked since the first national lockdown in 2020.
She added: "Only having one entrance open helped control the movement of customers in and out of the store. Then it was rumoured they remained closed due to security concerns because it was easier to man only the front entrance.
"They've been closed for well over two years and [the reopening] seems to have been extremely good news to many."
Customers have taken to social media to share their joy.
One person posted: "All is right with the world again."
Another added: "We discovered they were open yesterday. Much easier for us to get to the bus stop."
One of the other people who left a comment said: "What absolutely brilliant news. Never thought we would see this day."
Shoppers say the back doors have been locked and chained for some time, resulting in a longer walk for pedestrians approaching the store from the Commercial Road area.
One social media user said: "My weight will pile on now as I won't be taking as much exercise - I can take a short cut."
Another added: "Thought I saw the 'no entry' sign had gone yesterday."
Asda have been contacted for comment.
