A SOUTHAMPTON woman with Parkinson's will be taking on her first ever marathon next month for a charity close to her heart.
Ros Bradbury, a 62-year-old retired midwife, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2015 and said that she won’t let the condition define her. She's now in training for the London Marathon next month in aid of Parkinson's UK.
She told the Daily Echo: “Every day is unpredictable when you are living with Parkinson’s. Some days I wake up and I am just exhausted, and that makes training for a marathon quite difficult because on those days I struggle to run. Those days make me really frustrated, but I try to focus on the positive and do the best that I can.

“As well as raising much-needed funds for the charity, I want to raise awareness of Parkinson’s and how much it can affect people’s lives. I know so many people who have been affected by this condition, and it’s so important to spread awareness."
This year, 200 runners will be running the London Marathon to fundraise for Parkinson’s UK, including Ros, Sadie who is attempting to break the world record by running the London Marathon dressed as a brain cell, and the charity's Chief Executive Caroline Rassell.
Parkinson’s is the fastest growing neurological condition in the world, and currently there is no cure. It affects around 145,000 people in the UK and every hour two more people are diagnosed. There are over 40 symptoms, from tremor to pain to anxiety.
Ros completed the Goodwood half marathon in July in a time of 3:12:53 and has been busy cranking up the miles all summer.
