A NEW restaurant is now open in Southampton city centre.
Fried chicken chain Miss Millie’s celebrated the grand opening of its fourth branch at 95 Above Bar Street with Southampton mayor, Cllr Jacqui Rayment.
The restaurant serves alcohol and will be open every day from 11am to 10pm.
After September 23, it will stay open until 1am on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
Carl Traill, managing director of Miss Millie’s Fried Chicken, said: “All of our chicken is fresh, not frozen, and made to order.
“We just want people to enjoy, have a sit down and a fabulous time!”
The chain says the chicken is cooked in a “secret recipe coating” developed by the grandson of Colonel Sander, founder of KFC.
The business started in 1965 and has stores in Bristol, Weston-Super-Mare, Cardiff, Yate and London.
Speaking at the opening today, Cllr Rayment said: “I love the murals and the environment gives off an inviting vibe!”
A local artist from Global Street Arts Agency designed all the murals in the restaurant which incorporate well-known features of Southampton into his art.
Antony Tagliamonti, franchisee of the chain and CEO of Scoffs Group, said: “We are also taking feedback from customers and adapting our menu to the customer base.”
Staff gave away free chicken burgers to their first 50 customers and are now inviting them to try their flagship Millie’s chicken fillet burger.
