THE TELEGRAPH has ranked 231 independent schools in the country – and this is where Hampshire schools sit.

The national newspaper created an interactive table people can use to compare the performances of independent schools in their area to others across the country.

Nine Hampshire schools in total ranked in the top 231 which looks at the top grades achieved at GCSE level.

Churcher’s College in Petersfield ranked as the 82nd best independent school, with 73.3 per cent of pupils achieving top grades.

Salesian College in Farnborough comes in at 120 with 61 per cent achieving top grades.

Close behind is HSDC Alton, formerly known as Alton College.

The day school ranks at 128 on the list as students achieved a total of 59.4 per cent of top grades at GCSE level.

Further down the table is an independent school in Fareham.

Students at Meoncross School in Burnt House Lane achieved 53.6 per cent of top grades, earning it a ranking of 149.

We travel further north to Ditcham Park school in Petersfield but go south on the Telegraph’s table.

This school achieved 51 per cent of top grades, earning it a ranking of 165.

Close behind is Farnborough Hill school which achieved 49.1 per cent of top grades.

It ranks at number 172.

Alresford-based Brockwood Park boarding school has ranked at 192 thanks to 40 per cent of students achieving top grades.

Closely on the school’s tail is Rookwood School, also a boarding school, ranking at 193.

The independent Andover school saw 39.3 per cent of students obtaining top grades.

Finally, St John’s College in Southsea.

Although the school closed earlier this year, its students still achieved 34.1 per cent of top grades at GCSE level.
