OUT of the ashes of two defunct teams came the spectacular Hampshire cheerleading squad Odyssey Allstars.

When coaches Naomi Key and Alysha Crittel’s previous teams had to close due to the effects of the pandemic, the pair joined forces to build a brand new team for the area.

Now in its second year, Odyssey Allstars teaches cheerleading and dance for athletes of all ages and abilities.

With classes in Southampton and Chandlers Ford, the team caters for everyone including those with physical disabilities and learning difficulties.

Naomi told the Daily Echo: “We are totally inclusive and have classes suitable for everyone.

“It’s more than just a sport to us. We like to build life skills for the athletes they can use as they grow into the world of work and university.

Daily Echo:

“We keep prices as low as we can, we care about the athletes and provide a positive atmosphere."

Classes include recreational and competitive cheerleading at various levels as well as hip hop, tumbling and a stunt group.

The group are now busy fundraising in a bid to open their own premises.

"We'd like to be able to offer more classes at lower prices and get as many kids moving as possible, as well as being a hub for the local community," added Naomi.
