RED Funnel has revised its timetable on the day of the Queen's funeral as a mark of respect.

The ferry operator connecting Southampton with the Isle of Wight has made the changes to allow team members time to pause and pay tribute to Her Majesty, and to watch the service.

The changes

The Red Jet service will operate a bank holiday timetable, but the following sailings will not operate:

From Southampton: 10:20 and 11:30

From West Cowes: 10:55 and 12:05

To support island residents travelling to London, an additional early morning sailing has been added to the bank holiday Red Jet timetable:

From Southampton: 05:30

From West Cowes: 06:05

The vehicle ferry service will run according to the published timetable, with the exception of the following sailings that will not run:

From Southampton: 10:00, 11:00 and 12:00

From East Cowes: 10:30, 11:30 and 12:30

The Red Kestrel freight service will run as normal, with the exception of the following sailings which will not run:

From Southampton: 10:25

From East Cowes: 11:55

Any customers with bookings on affected sailings will be contacted.

'Historic event'

Fran Collins, CEO of Red Funnel, said: "We have made the decision to revise our service on Monday, September 19 as a show of respect for Her Majesty The Queen’s 70 years of service to our country.

"We think it is important to pay tribute to her great contribution and we want to enable our staff to be able to participate and reflect on this day of mourning.

"This is a historic event that will see many across the world united, and it is only right for us to pause and partake in memory of such an inspirational figure in our lives.

"We apologise to anyone who may be inconvenienced by this decision, but we hope our customers will understand the context and support us too."
