A RESIDENT is calling for a halt to plans for a 5G mast "monstrosity" just metres from his home.
Julian Puckett has called for the plans for the telecoms mast to be scrapped and said the 48ft pole would be an eyesore in the area.
The 63-year-old, who has lived in the area for 27 years, has been trying to raise awareness among his neighbours.
He wants them to object to the pole, set to be twice the height of the houses in Bitterne Road.
As well as a mast, plans would also include wiring cabinets.

Mr Puckett said: "This seems so upfront and it’s right at the front of the house, it’s not at the side or a discreet location, it can be seen from every front window of the houses here."
It comes after a woman in Raymond Road, Southampton, last week parked her car to block 5G mast groundworks.
Mr Puckett said a mast in his street "makes you feel like you want to move".
He added: "You just wouldn't feel the same about it when it's there, probably being put up by people who weren’t born here.
"It’s fair enough you want to get the masts up - but you have to put it up somewhere so it wouldn't be an eyesore to people who have lived here for 27 years, like in my case.
"It’s ill-considered to put something like that here. It’s just out of character with the properties around it.
"It would spoil the view over the city and there would be light reduction inside the homes when you think something like this.
"You don’t mind losing a bit of light if it comes from the tree, but you don’t want it from a monstrosity like that."
Mr Puckett also fears it could affect wildlife in the area.
He said: "In the small green area we get at the front, we get nesting birds on the tree that we get that nested last year, we get hedgehogs, a surprising amount of wildlife at the front and that should be preserved and not messed around with."
Mr Puckett encouraged the council to take firm action to stop these plans from going ahead.
He said: "This is where action from the council is needed and someone to have some teeth about it and stand up about it rather than just say, well that’s hard luck, it shouldn’t be that way and there should be an opposition to it."
