POLICE have issued a statement after two schoolgirls were approached by a stranger asking them to "come with him".
The students were on their way to Redbridge Community School when they were approached by a man near the Premier Millbrook Convenience Store on Windermere Avenue.
When he asked them to "come with him", the girls refused and walked off.
Following the incident just after 8am on Tuesday, officers are now patrolling the area every morning during the school run.
The man is believed to be in his 50s and 5ft 7ins in height.
When last seen, he was wearing a long brown scruffy coat with black trousers and black shoes.
He has brown but greying hair and very few teeth.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Police said: "We received a report of a man approaching two female students outside a shop in Windermere Avenue, Millbrook, who was asking them to come with him.
"Both girls refused and carried on walking to Redbridge Community School, which they attend.
"We have been in contact with the school and officers will continue to patrol the area each morning during the school run.
As enquiries continue to identify the man, police are urging members of the public to come forward with any relevant information.
The spokesperson added: "Any CCTV, dash cam or ring doorbell footage which shows the incidents or may identify the man is asked to report it to us via 44220373110."
