CUSTOMERS affected by the closure of a car dealer are being asked to contact their finance company for support.

Carzoopa Ltd. based in Totton announced at the start of the month that it had ceased trading owing to "rising costs"

Formed in 2013, the company had been selling used cars to people across the region including the New Forest, Southampton, and further afield.

Now, customers have been left in limbo.

'Lots of issues'

Jason James, from Totton, had to wait months for his new Jaguar after it developed problems just weeks after buying it.

Despite paying for the vehicle on finance, he waited three months for the car to be fixed.

He was eventually given a new car and a new finance deal.

The 50-year-old is now awaiting papers for the new vehicle, an Audi, from Carzoopa.

Despite contacting his finance company for weeks, he still hasn't received them.

Responding to the news of Carzoopa ceasing trading, he said: "I know they have had lots of issues with cars they have sold.

"They have had to repair them and that has had a cost implication. If they keep doing that, car after car then it is going to eat into their profits."

Describing his predicament as "frustrating", Jason, who lives on the same road as Carzoopa's HQ in Commercial Road, Totton said he has seen five or six lorries attending in recent days to remove cars from the site.

'Unviable' business

Director, Lee O'Regan, said after the company ceased trading: "Unfortunately, we have ceased trading as with rising costs it has become unviable to remain open, we won’t be reopening.

"We have had to let many great staff members go as a result.

"All customers with cars on finance should contact their finance companies as per the instructions on the website who will be able to advise them if they have any issues."
