A VILLAGE coffee shop is hoping to extend its opening hours and sell alcohol up to 11pm.

Wonderberrys Coffee Shop has applied to Eastleigh Borough Council to extend its opening hours for special events like Valentine's day and Christmas.

Currently, the business, which seats around 40 people inside and 20 outside operates between 9.30am and 4.30pm Tuesday to Sunday.

But if approved, the coffee shop on Victoria Road in Netley would be able to stay open from 9.30am to 11pm seven days a week.

In the application, the company said: "We would like to offer Prosecco with afternoon tea during our standard opening times of 9.30-16.30.

"However, there may be times such as Christmas or for special events as wakes, birthday parties, baby showers that times/days extend beyond the standard."

It goes on to state that all alcohol would be served by staff, CCTV is operated on the premises and that drinking to excess "will not be permitted".

But some concerns have been raised over noise due to people eating and drinking outside.

One objection read: "On Saturdays and Sundays there are now groups of people in the garden directly next to us.

"I'm concerned as when you add alcohol into this situation it's sure to be a louder situation".

The application is due to be considered at a meeting next Friday.
