HAMPSHIRE mum Claire Ford took the challenge to raise money for a charity that helped her son when he was seriously ill.
Four years ago her son Lewis was diagnosed with a brain tumour and spent a month in Southampton General Hospital following complications.
Nurses were so impressed by the bravery of the Foxhills Infant School pupil that they passed his name on to children's charity Round Table Children's Wish.
The youngster asked to visit Santa Claus so the charity sent him and his family on a trip to Lapland.
Mum-of-two Claire, 35, a commercial banker, of Jessica Crescent, Totton, said: "I said it would be nice to be able to repay the charity for their kindness as they put a smile on so many little faces.
"I'm not a natural runner and when I told my family I was going to run a marathon they thought I was mad."
Claire has so far raised £2,500 for the charity. To sponsor her visit justgiving.com/claireford1.
