With the day of the Queen's funeral being declared a bank holiday, council services, bus and ferry timetables and shops' opening hours are all going to change.

Most shops and restaurant chains are expected to stay shut on September 19 to allow their staff to watch TV coverage of Her Majesty's funeral.

Most council services will not be running and those who are planning to travel are being urged to look out for revised timetables.

Below is all you need to know about changes to services across Southampton on bank holiday Monday.

Bin collections

No bins will be collected on Monday. Bin collections will resume a day later than normal following the bank holiday.

A catch-up collection for general waste bins that would have been collected next Friday will take place on Saturday September 24.

Recycling, glass and garden waste collections that would have been made next Friday will not be made until the next scheduled calendar collection date.

Tips

All tips in Hampshire, including the one in Millbrook, will close.

Libraries and museums

All council run libraries will be closed. Books of condolence are still available to sign at Central Library, Bitterne Library, and Shirley Library during opening hours until closing on Tuesday.

Hospital appointments

Thousands of hospital appointments have been cancelled, according to reports.

However, NHS bosses in Southampton say patients should attend as planned unless they hear otherwise.

A spokesperson for University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust said: "We are endeavouring to keep our services running as normal as best we can.

"Patients are being asked to still attend planned hospital appointments unless they hear differently, directly from us."

What else will shut?

Schools, Active Nation leisure venues, Southampton International Boat Show and council-owned public toilets (Bitterne Precinct, Mayfield Bowling Pavilion, Weston Shore, Mayflower Park).

These will be shut from 9pm on Sunday to 8am on Tuesday.

What will remain open?

Westquay will be open but many of its shops won't while others will open later. You can access a list here.

The golf course will also remain open as will the crematorium.
