FIREFIGHTERS in Southampton spent more than two hours tackling a fire at a dry cleaning business in Shirley yesterday evening.
The alarm at the Dolphin Dry Cleaners in Shirley Road happened at about 6.30pm.
An employee at a neighbouring firm of estate agents raised the alarm when he saw smoke coming from the fascia. It is understood the incident was caused by an electrical fault involving the old wiring between the two premises.
Firefighers, two of whom wore breathing apparatus, tackled the fire that was witnessed by rush hour commuters and shoppers.
Water tenders from Redbridge and St Marys as well as the former's aerial ladder platform attended the incident Nobody was injured.
