A HAMPSHIRE teacher has today been cleared of abusing his position of trust by having a sexual relationship with a pupil.
Jurors took just 25 minutes to unanimously find Neale Gordon head of ICT at Crofton School in Stubbington near Fareham, not guilty of both charges against him.
The married father of two from Waterlooville had been on trial at Portsmouth Crown Court all week accused of twice engaging in sexual activity with a 16-year-old girl who was a Crofton School student at the time.
Throughout the hearing Mr Gordon, 54, insisted the allegations were "absolute rubbish" and had been concocted by the girl who accepted in evidence to being an attention seeker.
He faced two charges of abusing a position of trust by engaging in sexual activity with a child under 18.
The court heard glowing references from several colleagues at the Stubbington school describing as "a consummate professional with a passion for teaching."
