A SET of medieval-type stocks is to be set up at a Hampshire coastal resort as a new tourist attraction.
Tourism bosses for Hayling Island came up with the idea to entertain visitors to the area.
Robin Walton, chairman of Discover Hayling, said he believed tourists would enjoy taking turns in the stocks to have their photograph taken.
He said: ''We thought it would be a bit of fun to make a replica of the stocks and make them a tourist attraction.
''It's the kind of thing people would love to get in and take photographs of.'' Mr Walton said the town used to have a set of stocks for centuries but they were now in a local museum.
He added that the new set would be an authentic replica of the original ones.
The stocks are set to be officially opened by local Conservative MP David Willetts in June.
